Spring grew as a community following the establishment of a trading post by William Pierpont in 1838. About two years later, what was known as Spring had a population of about 150 people. The community continued to grow as immigrants arrived in the area and farmed the land. In 1871, the Great Northern Railroad built through Spring. This caused the population of Spring to rise again. Two years later, a post office was established in the community. Spring continued to experience success throughout the 20th century.
